The endocannabinoid system (ECS) regulates and balances many processes in our bodies including ✔️Immune Response ✔️Appetite and Metabolism ✔️Memory ✔️Communication Between Cells Two Endocannabinoids - Anandamide (AEA) And 2-AG Endocannabinoids are substances produced from within the body and activate cannabinoid receptors (CB1 & CB2). Anandamide was discovered first and can be found in almost all tissues in a wide range of animals. We can even find it in some of the plants like chocolate 🍫 2-AG can mainly be found in the brain 🧠 AEA & 2- AG are major members of the Endocannabinoid family. They have been regarded almost as twin brothers. Both help with the regulation of synaptic functions and in behavioral aspects, such as learning and memory, reward and addiction, antinociception (reduced sensitivity to pain), and anxiety. AEA & Anandamide are highly present in our nervous system. They serve as signaling molecules that are released from one cell and activating the cannabinoid receptors present on other nearby cells.
