In many ways it’s the best concert from the tour because of the quality of the performance, the band had started to structure the songs a little bit. The concert was held at the old Teatro Massimo in Genova, a venue which was renamed “Sgt. Pepper” by the PSYCO organization in Genova, still active to this day. The concert was a show organized for the celebration of the 10 years of activity of the PSYCO organization, and apparently some sort of exposition was being held also as part of the celebrations. The concert in Genova was Karl Bartos’ last live show with the band sadly, by this point he had had enough of Ralf, Florian and the slow progress of the band. He had contributed enormously anyway by this point, probably his mission was over by now and he felt like nothing new could be said musically. The songs are pretty much the same as all the other 1990 performances, with a few mistakes here and there. A change which is quite noticeable is the slightly modified bassline in “Computer Love” and the sequence accidentally triggered from that song just before “The Model”. Other than that, “Tour de France” featured some nice string sounds as well. The suites from the second part of the concert were interesting, as well as a good rendition of “Musique Non Stop”, featuring extreme pitch bending of Florian’s samples and good solos. Kraftwerk will return to Genova on 8th July 2023, performing at the Goa Boa Festival, an evolution of the PSYCO organization. ________________________________________________ Special thanks to Babass_ for uploading the alt source and EW Music for the concert description (check out his Kraftwerk covers). Just like Padova, this concert has rough audio quality. The fidelity is low in some songs and the mid frequencies are suppressed making the sound flat. At the beginning of Tour De France, the quality is still low, but it got better later in the song. The same is the case for Autobahn. All songs with less bad quality have decent fidelity and less suppressed mid frequencies. After Pocket Calculator, the quality starts deteriorating. Nothing can be done about the low fidelity, but I fixed the mid frequencies by increasing them. Addtionally, I put a reverb on the recording to make it sound more natural.
