Tubes the first and foremost important thing for pregnancy. What do you mean by tubes the fallopian tube? They are a tubal structure which is there next to the uterus we have left tube and we have the right tube. So these are very important, Basically again the sperm meet in the tube form embryos and these embryos gets deposit in the uterus. So what you mean by recanalization ? Sometimes unfortunately after tubes are tied that is after tubectomy or after tubes are cut something happens and probably difficult situations in life, baby wouldn't make it. So we need to rejoin the tubes. So this we call it as tubal recanalization. So we have different methods of doing recanalization where where we join the tubes So it is either done by cutting open the abdomen that is by doing an open surgery or we could join the tubes using laparoscopic surgeries. So basically what we do here is we try to connect the tubes which are disconnected. So by doing so we try to align and then try to get the tube into the position which was there before cutting but there are certain risks which are associated with tubal recanalization. That's the success rate of tubal recanalization is only about 50 % and there are more chances for ectopic pregnancy. So there are certain risks that are involved with tubal recalization. So in the era of IVF we have to take very careful decision whether we have to go ahead with tubal recanalization, whether we have to go ahead with IVF. Because suppose if the woman's age is elderly and if the AMH is low and if the tubes are cut then the first preference would be to go ahead with IVF. So after tubal recanalization if they conceive they have to conceive within the first two years of recanalization. If not then the success rate of recanalization surgery would be reduced. So this is a step and a decision that has to be taken very carefully.
