Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Russian General Staff’s army operational training directorate, died after an explosive device detonated under his vehicle as he was leaving a parking area in southern Moscow early in the morning. According to Russia’s State Investigative Committee, the bomb exploded beneath a Kia Sorento at around 06:55 Moscow time, causing fatal injuries to the general.
