Friends, we are so pleased to present this recording of author Gracy Olmstead from her Agrarian Voices Lecture earlier this year. Ms. Olmstead's book Uprooted: Recovering the Legacy of the Places We've Left Behind is a perennial favorite here and at The Bookstore at The Berry Center, and we look forward to hearing more from her about how we wrestle with the questions of what we owe the places we come from and what we are willing to sacrifice for profit and progress. Gracy's lecture here covers her most recent research - the life and work of Henry County’s Tanya Amyx Berry – a musician, homemaker, photographer, and gardener who after many moves throughout her early life settled in Port Royal, Kentucky in 1965 (after having married a certain writer you may be familiar with). This event was presented with the generous support of the Josephine Ardery Foundation, the Tall Grass Farm Foundation, Virginia Lee Harrod, Tony Perry and Jeff Ricketts, and Cindy and Scott Anderson. Join us at www.berrycenter.org to keep track of upcoming Agrarian Voices lectures, and you can find Gracy Olmstead's work, along with many other excellent agrarian titles, at www.berrycenterbookstore.com
