Typically, I’ve favored the ME3 airlines—Emirates (EK), Etihad (EY), and Qatar Airways (QR)—for ultra-long-haul flights, as I’ve found them to offer consistently excellent service and product, with convenient connections. However, I came across an irresistible deal for this route (IAH-LAX-HKG-BKK) at just $400 each way, 36 hours before departure. And let me tell you, Cathay Pacific exceeded expectations, offering an experience that makes them a top contender for North America-Asia connections—especially considering the often higher cost of flying through the Middle East.
