LOW SPEED - HIGH REWARD - NEW TRICK! WAKEBOARDING Switch Heelside Backside 540

This is the third in a series of LOW SPEED - HIGH REWARD Wakeboarding edits. Today I am attempting a new move, I've never landed this one. Let's go for the Switch Heelside Backside 540! ... I can’t believe I’m even saying this - going for a SWITCH HEELSIDE BACKSIDE 5!?!? That's a hard trick for me to wrap my mind around trying. If you aren't super into wakeboarding that's a long and confusing trick name, let's break it down: Switch Heelside Backside 540 Switch — riding with my right foot forward instead of my natural left foot forward. Heelside — cutting into the wake on my heelside edge of the board. Backside — my back is going towards my direction of travel for the first 180. 540 — a 540 degree spin in the air, since I'm taking off switch and rotating 540 deg (1.5 revolutions), I'll be landing in my natural left foot forward stance. A new trick for me? Yes, but don’t miss the point: By simply slowing the boat down and shortening my line, I’m landing hard moves and even tricks I’ve never landed before. This one little tweak in boat setup is giving me the confidence to work through challenges. Working on these 540s, I even took a couple heel edges that probably would have sidelined me for the rest of the day if I was running my normal speed and rope length. Yes, the same day we filmed this, I also ran my standard high speed, long line, full ballast setup — I went out and cracked off Raleys, batwings, boosts into the flats, some spins... You know, the usual. But it doesn’t have to be JUST that way! There is so much more to wakeboarding that we unlock by changing it up and keeping it fun. Questions? Comments?
