WATCH Abuse Victims, Beware: Common Sense is Harmful Nonsense (12 Myths Debunked) • Abuse Victims, Beware: Common Sense is Har... Summary https://vakninsummaries.com/expert-co... Transcript https://vaknintranscripts.com/2025/12... Self-styled "experts" let alone the laypersons who follow their misinformation have zero scientific training and even less exposure to scholarly literature. Differences between common sense and science: single vs. multiple explanations and the condition of evidence (science is evidentiary). Our common sense is wrong most of the time, actually (the sun does not revolve around the earth, the earth is not flat, for example). If trauma creates pathological narcissism, why don't all people become narcissists? Many possible reasons, no evidence yet, but correlation with trauma. If certain part of the brain reacts to behavior-changing medication, it means that it is the source of that behavior. But maybe it was shaped by the behavior? Traits are hereditary. Behaviors are choices based on traits and so behaviors are determined by heredity. But maybe behavior trigger the expression of genes? (Epigenetics). People interact with other people since day 1 so that means that who they become is determined by others. Possibly, but we have no control group (people who never had any contact with others). Mothers and fathers are equally important in human development. Maybe so, but for different aspects of personal growth and evolution. Parents are supposed to love their children and parenting is a wonderful, fulfilling experience. This is not what studies show. Men and women are psychologically fundamentally different in many ways. But how do we isolate confounding factors such as social expectations and assigned, performative gender roles? Social contagion explains many individual choices (most recent example: transgenderism). It is inexorable and irresistible. If so, why do we insist on the existence of constructs such as personality disorders and personal accountability? Addiction is a disease of the brain. If so, how come people go sober, on the wagon, break the habit? Are the corresponding changes to the brain the cause or the effect?
