It means that you are trying separate them from you and telling them that they are different from you. Almost like saying you look different and therefor are different than us and you need to leave. 2. 称呼不认识名字的人的时候不要说“Hey”, 换成 “Excuse me” or “Pardon me”. (同样,称呼餐厅服务员的时候,不要叫waiter或者waitress,也换成“Excuse me” or “Pardon me”) 3. These words imply that your time is more valuable than theirs. 4. We should also refrain from using the word “Should” or “Ought”, these words come with the connotation that you did something immoral. 5. Avoid making “you” statements and instead use “I”. IE “You are making this so frustrating” and use “I am so frustrated”. You are making this so frustrating. 换成I am so frustrated. 6. We should also be careful when talking about money, at least in America you should never ask how much money someone makes or how much money they have in their bank account. Is it the same in China? 7. We are also very age conscious in the West. You never ask someone their age, especially a girl. -Don’t call an elderly person grandma or grandpa. -Only use family titles for relatives and not strangers. 8. In the west we also tend to steer clear of talking about peoples’ weight or how fat they are. This will extend to several of the following: What size shirt do you wear? How much do you weigh, your looking a little thick around the edges. What size pants do you wear? 你穿多大的裤子? politics and religion 和人初识时,不要问政治和宗教 -Who did you vote for? -Are you a Democrat社会民主党 or Republican共和党? -Do you believe in God?
