Reading the Bible alongside you Today’s reading: Romans chapters 1–3 🙌 Chapter 1 Verse 5 — “To bring about the obedience of faith” — faith is obedience, not a religious label 🙏 Verses 6–7 — "Including you who are called to belong to Jesus Christ"… loved by God and called to be saints 💛 Paul is well aware not everyone will receive, but he’s speaking directly to those with transformed lives who were consistently obedient to God. Because again- nots not what u call yourself- it's about those living it out Verse 12 — "That we may be mutually encouraged" 🤝 Getting together with other Christians should lift us up. That’s the beauty of church — not just a good sermon or music, but encouraging one another. Verse 16 — The gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone! 🔥 From faith for faith by faith — faith is all-encompassing. We receive salvation by faith, and by faith we live it out each day. Verse 20 — All creation points to the Creator ❤️ Verse 21 — For although they knew God, they did not honor Him or give thanks. The root of sin is failing to value God above all things. Verse 24 — God doesn’t desire any of us to depart from Him, but He does give us free will and lets us choose. He gives people over to themselves, yet is always waiting with open arms to welcome anyone back home 🤍 Verse 25 — Paul is so good with words "Worshiping and serving the creature rather than the Creator" Verse 26 — Speaking specifically into homosexuality: God gave them up to dishonorable passions as they gave up natural relationships, being consumed with passion for one another — man with man and woman with woman — committing shameless acts. The original design for sex was to bring spiritual unity within a married couple of man and woman and create offspring bearing the image of God. Homosexuality takes this gift and uses it against the design, becoming a lustful passion. Verse 32 — Knowing what’s right but still giving approval to those doing wrong. We need to stand for God’s original design, even when the world screams something different. His way is always better. Chapter 2 Verse 3 — "Do you suppose, you who judge those who practice such things yet do them yourself, that you will escape God’s judgment? " People who judge others but don’t walk the walk and still expect the benefits of forgiveness will be judged. God’s forgiveness is meant to lead us to repentance — so if someone is purposefully living in sin, there is no forgiveness available. Verse 7 — "Those who seek to honor God receive eternal life, but those who are self-seeking and don’t obey truth receive wrath and fury. " It’s not about being a “good person” — it’s about seeking to glorify God. Verse 12 — "Those who sin without the law perish without the law, and those who sin under the law are judged by it. " Great verse for those who wonder about people who haven’t heard the gospel — God judges us where we’re at. He meets each person right where they are. Verse 29 — Circumcision is a matter of the heart ❤️ It’s about being devoted to the Lord. Chapter 3 Verses 10–12 — "No one is righteous — no, not one." We all fall short of the glory of God and are in need of a Savior 🙏 Verses 21–24 — Our whole gospel wrapped in a cute little bow 🎁 We needed a Savior, so Jesus came — a gift. No one earned it or deserved it. It was freely given. 🥰 Verse 29 — God is the God of all. No race is above another 🌍 Verse 31 — Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it.
