This performance was a psychological interpretation of a song written by the late Bangladeshi song writer, spiritualist & social reformer, Lalon Shah (1772-1890). This song was understood to be referring to internal conflicts within the psyche, which was compared to theories of personality and psychopathology by Dr. Sigmund Freud many years later. This brief performance was part of a celebratory event organised by the Friends of East End Loonies (FEEL). This organisation is a self funded, progressive mental health group campaigning for arts and holistic care for individuals experiencing emotional distress. This event took place in Kingsley Hall which was home to one of the most radical non-restraining, non-medicalised psychological experiments for individuals affected by schizophrenia during the 1960’s.
