George Floyd death: Minnesota AG announces new charges against all 4 officers | FULL

Minnesota attorney general Keith Ellison announced on Wednesday that former police officer Derek Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder in the case of George Floyd, who died in police custody after video showed Chauvin kneeling on his neck during an arrest. The charge was upgraded from a previous third-degree murder charge due to evidence supporting the charge. Three officers who were fired after the video surfaced were also charged, with aiding and abetting murder in the second-degree, a felony offence. He said an arrest warrant was put out for the three officers. Ellison said the charges “fit the facts” of the case and they would put “all the energy we can” to put forth the strongest case on the charges. Minnesota Criminal Bureau of Apprehension superintendent Drew Evans said that one of three other officers is in custody and they expect the other two officers to be in custody sometime Wednesday afternoon.
