I did drop by one of Chicago's best jazz clubs 3 times while in Chicago (https://andysjazzclub.com). The first night was great with the Charles "Rick" Heath IV's quartet and I got a seat right behind the pianist. The band was top notch. I especially enjoyed listening to bass player groovin' to perfection on the Herbie Hancock tune. The second night was a quartet led by Micah Collier (bass). 4 young cats with a lot of fire. I sat next to a Mexican couple (I believe) and a really introverted white guy with tattoos. Maybe I should have started a conversation but it just didn't happen. The final night was big band night (Clif Wallace Big Band). What a fun and energetic band to listen to... great to hear Basie, Ellington and Quincy Jones on the same program. I had to sit next to the loudest, most obnoxious customer (nice guy though and I think he's someone famous) from North Carolina. I don't think he figured out that most customers are interested in listening to the music and not his voice... oh well, what can you do, eh?
