One of the key issues driving the Eastern Orthodox canonical argument regarding icons is the supposed distinction between adoration and veneration. I would like to point out a further problem with this framework, and how the distinction between adoration and veneration is, in reality, a red herring. Briefly, this video shows that - whether or not one accepts the distinction between veneration and adoration - the real problem is the fact that the Eastern Orthodox Church demands that a person venerate the image or be accursed forever to hell, according to the specific and explicit testimony of the Seventh Ecumenical Council.
