THE hundreds of hardy souls who turned out for the annual Mud Run on Sunday were rewarded with the wettest, most slippery and muddiest event yet. It was a little bit chilly but everyone had a really good time.“We fully maxed out, so the farm was absolutely full and with all the rain we’ve had over the past few weeks, we couldn’t have asked for better conditions.“It was a brilliant day, the mud was up to knees in places, the water was cold and there were plenty of good slides. It was a fantastic day.” Mr Naske thanked sponsors Eastland Port and Sport Gisborne-Tairawhiti for their help in running the event, along with the generosity of Anne and Graeme Maclaurin for allowing the public use of their farm to stage the event.‘They have been brilliant for the past five years, letting us have access to their farm.”Large numbers of people took part in fancy dress and Mr Naske said it was particularly pleasing to see so many children, including a large contingent from Ilminster School, taking part.“There were so many kids out there who were having just so much fun. They had smiles on their dials all the way through it. “We can’t believe how popular the Mud Run is, and we’re quite proud of it really.
