University of Tampa | Old Tampa Bay Hotel | Henry B. Plant Museum Exploring Tampa Florida

This is part two of today and in this vlog we stumble upon the Henry B. Plant Museum at the University of Tampa. The building is the former Tampa Bay Hotel, a grand old resort hotel that opened in 1891 and it is an extraordinary building. The Tampa Bay Hotel continued operating as a hotel until 1932, even after Plant died in 1899, and his heirs sold the hotel and 50 acres of land to the City of Tampa in 1905. In 1933, the City signed a lease with the University of Tampa giving the university the right to use the building for 100 years at the cost of one dollar a year. We are staying at the boutique Le Meridien Tampa hotel for two night. It's Dana's 50th Birthday Vacation series.
