When Abuelas One-Up at a Quinceañera

The video I’m sharing today is a throwback to the time when I first started using Abuela as a full character --with her own thoughts and feelings and a history beyond just being a stand-in for every Latina grandma. It was important to me to represent Latin culture in a realistic but relatable way, and going forward I will try my best to include a larger swath of underrepresented voices in my comedy. As a note, I’ve been going back and forth, debating when would be an appropriate time to release new (and old) comedic material/content. I feel very strongly about the current Black Lives Matter movement and have been happy to put my personal work on hold and use my platform to amplify the voices that need to be heard. While I don’t plan to stop discussing and tackling those issues, my life is comedy and it’s how I feel I best can have a positive effect on the world.
