Vital parameters such as frequency of heart beats or breathing are of eminent importance in detection of complications after surgery. Nurses and physicians collect these data with time-consuming spot checks and would benefit an automated measurement. Devices like a simple smart watch can register same variables, however, accuracy and connection problems limit their use. Originated @design table of Philips, is now a smart plaster called Healthdot available. The Healthdot transmits wireless the vital parameters through a LoRa network and can be worn up to 14 days. Its clinical use has been investigated thoroughly in the Catharina Hospital Eindhoven. Medical engineers and data scientists from the TU Eindhoven and Philips research joined to assess accuracy and data handling protocols. The Healthdot’s journey to be used @home as a part of standard care will be brought to you in this webinar. Program broadcasted from the Catharina Hospital o Dr. Arthur Bouwman, anesthesiologist, will focus on the importance of the vital parameters and the challenges experienced by clinicians o Jonna van der Stam, MSc, will describe the TRICA trial, a large clinical study on which the instrumental’s descriptions were based o Lisa van Ede, MD, will share the outcome of a patients’ preference PEACH trial wherein patients were discharged same day after bariatric surgery and followed up from a distance o Dr. Simon Nienhuijs, surgeon, will share insight in benefits and challenges to implement such new device and future perspectives Kijk voor meer informatie op www.catharinaziekenhuis.nl
