What the baron hill estate has now become | Exploring Wales

In today's episode, we explore the abandoned ruin of the baron hill estate. The building was originally built in 1612, however, it wasn't fully completed until 1776 as the owner, Richard bulkeley passed away. The architect, Samuel wyatt, managed to reconstruct the building, completing the project in a Neo-Palladian style. The house stood with the bulkeley familys inheritance as it was passed on generation after generation. Unfortunately the family couldn't keep up with the maintenance of the property. In 1939, at the outbreak of ww2, the mansion was requisitioned by the government and used as temporary housing for Polish soldiers. With the hope of being moved into another accommodation, the soldiers set a fire in the house which ultimately destroyed the house, leading to its abandonment. The soldiers were moved, but only to tents on the grounds of the estate. Join us as we take a look around the abandoned baron hill estate..
