This Tree Talk is a little further south than usual; while down in the Land of the Pines we picked up the top dog, loblolly pine! Loblolly (Pinus taeda) is a large, fast-growing canopy tree that is very important for the timber industry and our rural economies. It is super common and widespread in much of the southeast, though it was historically found primarily in wet bottomlands. Want more goods from the woods?
