Central Coast V Sets, The Final Week

On Wednesday, the 25th of June, I took a day trip to Newcastle and back to take a ride on some V sets on the Central Coast and Newcastle line in their final week of operation. These silver workhorses are being replaced by the Mariyung D sets, with it funnily enough "never going to happen in this lifetime", due to the D sets' continual delays into service. However, after entering service on the line in December 2024, it has finally become a reality, as will soon become the same fate for OSCar H sets, with them now only running limited peak hour services along the North Shore Line and up to Gosford and Wyong, spelling an eventual end to OSCars being used on intercity lines in the near future. V sets still continue to run on the Blue Mountains Line, however it is not likely they will do so past the end of this year, well and truly ending off their service life after more than half a century of proud service to Sydney's intercity commuters.
