Welcome to the first episode of the series "My Natural Aquarium" on Moving Scapes, where we take you on a journey to explore the beauty of the underwater world. This time, we visit Arsida Island in Saronikos Gulf, Southern Attika, Greece, to discover a small corner of the rocky substrate. Take a deep breath and dive with us 2.4 meters below the surface to witness the vibrant colors and shapes of the underwater creatures that make up this unique ecosystem. The noisy bottom rattling you will hear is created by macrobenthos, such as small shrimps clapping their claws. This natural soundscape is accompanied by the typical shallow water fish fauna found in the Aegean sea. From schools of Coris julis (Mediterranean rainbow wrasse) to playful Diplodus vulgaris (common two-banded sea bream), you'll get to observe their everyday routines in this stunning underwater world. Unfortunately, the soundscape is also tainted by human-made machine noises from leisure boats. This is a reminder of the impact that humans have on the environment and the importance of preserving these ecosystems. Join us on this 28-minute uninterrupted observation and discover the beauty of the natural aquarium.
