It has been a big weekend, and we're not through it all just yet. Some severe weather is expected overnight. Heavy rain and strong wind warnings are in place for large parts of the lower North Island and the upper east coast of the South Island. A significant low continues too, deep into the east of the country, which is causing those severe gales and downpours. Large waves and dangerous sea conditions are also expected, and coastal inundation is possible around exposed coasts.
