The second keynote speaker at the AgriSearch Beef Conference “Beefing Up Performance – Driving Productivity and Profitability,” which took place on Tuesday 27th January 2026 at the Seagoe Hotel, Portadown, was Duncan Morrison, Meikle Maldron Farm, Aberdeenshire who outlined his journey into beef farming. Duncan Morrison is recognized as a leader in beef efficiency at Meikle Maldron Farm, Aberdeenshire. Managing 260 cows, Duncan specializes in pedigree Aberdeen Angus and Stabilisers, using a "system first" approach to breed high-performance, low-input cattle. A former Aberdeen-Angus Cattle Society scholarship winner, Duncan’s strategy was shaped by studying large-scale grazing systems in New Zealand. He leverages "green genes" and data tools like Herd Advance to select for maternal traits that allow his herd to outwinter at 1,000 feet and calve unassisted. As a Monitor Farmer for Deeside (2022–2026), Duncan demonstrates how elite genetics can "breed out costs," delivering a resilient, forage-based enterprise that balances profitability with environmental sustainability
