Unbelievable is the only word that comes to mind when pondering a way to summarize the feeling of seeing Machine Head in concert. The thrash kingpins are larger than life onstage, truly cementing their status in the annals of heavy metal legacy. Frontman Robb Flynn and his unapologetic, take-no-prisoners approach to his work has ensured there will never be another band quite like Machine Head! Music has a special way of evoking emotion from those it really, truly touches, and for that I can say Machine Head changed my life. One's youth can be a time of struggle and turmoil, and for me it almost felt like an inescapable purgatory. Music was an outlet, but when I stumbled onto heavy metal it became a way of living. That first song was Machine Head's 'Locust', and from that day I have had some semblance of direction about my life. I have found happiness, love, acceptance, compassion, and most importantly family. If not for heavy metal, and more specifically Machine Head, I have no idea who I would be today. After their hasty breakup and brief farewell tour for longtime members Phil Demmel and Dave McClain, the future of Machine Head was uncertain. However this new era, backed my the modern-day equivalent to 'The Blackening', heavy-hitting album Of Kingdom and Crown, tells us the band is alive and well!
