Happy Mardi Gras! Did you know that: *The first Mardi Gras parade in New Orleans was held in 1837 back when Martin Van Buren succeeded Andrew Jackson as President of the United States. *Floats first appeared in 1857 and it is illegal to ride on a Mardi Gras float without wearing a mask. *Approximately 21,000 people ride on the floats every year, and the floats are roughly 50 feet long, weigh 10 tons and travel at 2.5 mph. If the 10 ton float were made of SpexLite Solid Air Aggregates, that would make up 16,666 cubic feet. To put that into perspective, the New Orleans Saints play in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which has about 110,000 square feet of turf. So, if the typical float were converted to SpexLite Beads, weight on weight, it would cover the Saints field field over 25 layers thick! The next time you need an extremely efficient volume filler call SpexLite at 440-462-1500.
