Summary of the Primitive Society 1. What is a Primitive Society? The primitive society, also known as a clan commune, was the first stage in human history, lasting from the appearance of humans until the emergence of social classes. During this period, humans lived in communities, inheriting the herd-like lifestyle of their primate ancestors. Some present-day tribes, such as the Hadza, San, and Sentinelese, still maintain a lifestyle similar to that of the primitive society. 2. Characteristics of Primitive Society Clans and Tribes: Early humans lived in clans consisting of several families related by blood. Multiple clans formed tribes that helped each other survive and work together. Development of Tools: Initially, people used stone tools. Later, they discovered and developed metal tools (copper, tin, lead). The use of metal tools improved production, leading to surplus resources and social differentiation. 3. Stages of Primitive Society Early Humans (Homo Erectus): Appeared millions of years ago. They lived in small groups, used stones and wood for tools, hunted animals, gathered food, and used fire for cooking and protection. Modern Humans (Homo Sapiens): Appeared around 40,000 years ago. They lived in clans, practiced farming, animal husbandry, made pottery and jewelry, built homes, and developed a richer spiritual life. 4. Differences Between Early and Modern Humans 5. Why Did Primitive Society Collapse? The advancement of metal tools increased productivity, resulting in surplus goods. Some individuals accumulated more wealth than others, leading to the division of society into rich and poor. As a result, communal living ended, and social classes emerged, marking the end of primitive society.
