Ole Miss shined on both ends of the court to defeat Boston College, 92-55, in game one of the Continental Tire Baha Mar Championship in Nassau, Bahamas, on Monday night. The Rebels (4-1, 0-0 SEC) scored the most points this season, marking the sixth-straight season with at least one 90-point game. The Rebels’ 92 points against the Eagles also marked the first time Ole Miss has scored at least 90 points against a Power Four team since outscoring LSU, 102-101, in triple overtime on Feb. 7, 2010. The last time Ole Miss scored 90 points against a Power Four opponent in regulation was March 25, 2007, in a 90-82 win over Oklahoma. Its convincing win also marks four-straight years beating a Power Four team by 30 or more points. In its last six victories over Power Four opponents, Ole Miss has triumphed by double digits each time for an average margin of victory of 27.33 points, including a 44-point win over Arkansas, a 37-point win over Boston College and a 30-point win over Kentucky. Five players reached double figure scoring marks, the first time since last year when the Rebels had six against Mississippi Valley State on Dec. 12, 2023. Defensively, Ole Miss held Boston College (6-2, 0-0 ACC) to its fewest point total this season. The Rebels held the Eagles to 23 points in the first half, the first time this season the Eagles failed to breach 30 points in either half. Boston College connected on only 36.7% of its shots against Ole Miss, its worst night of shooting this year. Opposite to Boston College, Ole Miss had its best shooting night of the year. The Rebels shot 51.4% from the field, their first time making more than half their shots this season. Ole Miss saw several standout performances from key players in its first game in Nassau. Starr Jacobs headed the charge with her first double-double in the blue and red, scoring 12 points and adding 11 rebounds. Eight of Jacobs’ rebounds came off the offensive glass, tying a career best for the senior. The graduate student’s double-double served as the 27th of her overall collegiate career and the 18th as a Division I player. Her double-double is also the first by any Rebel this season. Kennedy Todd-Williams led the field with a season-high 17 points and five assists. It’s her first time this season leading the Rebels in both categories. With her accolade, Todd-Williams became the first player this season to be the single game leader in scoring, rebounding and assists in at least one game. Sira Thienou had her most complete game thus far, scoring 16 points, grabbing eight rebounds and notching three steals. Her rebound and steal marks are career bests, while her scoring total ties it. KK Deans and Ayanna Thompson were the other two players in double figures. Deans had 15 points and was a perfect 6-6 from the charity line. Thompson scored 10 points, the second time this season achieving the 10-point mark. Proving why Ole Miss holds the second-best scoring defense in the nation, the Rebels held the Eagles to their lowest scoring quarter this season with just eight points from a .167 field goal clip in the opening 10 minutes. On the other side of the court, Ole Miss ran up the scoreboard propelled by six points from Jacobs to put the Rebels in the lead, 20-8, at the end of the first quarter. Trading shot-for-shot in the opening minutes of the second, Madison Scott put Ole Miss back in the driver’s seat, scoring her first points of the game with a gritty and one to maintain the Rebels’ 12-point lead into the media. Todd-Williams came to life, draining eight of her 17 total points to extend Ole Miss’ lead. Tameiya Sadler put the cherry on top for Ole Miss, driving in a last-second layup to give the Rebels’ a 41-23 advantage at the end of the half. Three early three-pointers, a pair from Thienou and one from Deans, kicked off a 7-0 run for the Rebels, giving them their largest lead thus far with a 24-point advantage. Taking advantage of an Eagle turnover, Jacobs forced up a layup to secure her double-double. Holding a comfortable 66-42 lead heading into the final ten minutes, Ole Miss looked to close out the first contest of the week. The Rebels shifted its focus to playing staunch defense to put away the Eagles. Ole Miss kept Boston College quiet in the scoring category for nearly five minutes midway through the quarter.
