Let's look at the history of the railway lines that we sometimes take for granted as boring suburbia in Adelaide’s south. It all started in the early 1900s with a country line to Willunga, and spur lines developed for industry. Yep, all kinds of freight trains used to ply the southern lines until the early 2000s. We’ll learn about how they developed, have a look at some images of what they looked like back then, go hunting for the evidence of their history, and see what they look like today. We’ll look at the timeline map before we begin exploring at Goodwood, where the Willunga line once left the South Main Line to wind its way across what was then largely rural areas to the southern vales.
