The Catholic Church in Ireland has been rocked by cases of abuse over the past number of decades. Recently the Irish government issued a report where it documented almost 2,400 cases of abuse in religious-run schools from 1927 to 2013. EWTN's Colm Flynn travels to Ireland to talk to some of the survivors and hear their stories. He also talks to Archbishop Dermot Farell, the archbishop of Dublin, to try and get a sense of how such abuse was able to take place in religious schools, and even worse, how it was covered up for so long. Colm also talks to those involved in breaking the story and bringing it to national and international attention, helping the survivors get accountability and justice. Again, parts of this report are difficult to hear, but by sharing these stories, it is hoped more victims will come forward and no longer live in shame, and the Church will learn from the terrible wrongs of the past, and come out a stronger and safer place for everyone. ------------ Hosted by Catherine Hadro, EWTN News In Depth welcomes guests in a discussion of current events in the Church, politics, and culture, all through the lens of the Catholic faith. This show is about finding out who we are as people and as Catholics, and how we can confidently live our faith in the world.
