When you think of Petra, the first thing that probably comes to mind is the scene from "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" when Indiana walks into a temple housing the Holy Grail. But Petra is so much more! In fact, there are dozens if not hundreds more buildings and different architectural ensembles besides the Al Khazneh (The Treasury), which owns it's fame to Spielberg's production. Established by the Nabataeans around 312 BC, Petra was their capital and a prominent trade center. Petra is also known as the Rose City and as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.
