Hi everyone! Happy New Year to all of you to begin with. Hoping you had a blast of a start of 2024. Now let’s start with the first ride on my channel in 2024. And actually one of my last rides in 2023. Oh and there’s some bonus explaining in the video from 18:44 to Diemen. 0:00 Amsterdam Centraal (Waiting Time) On many request I added some of the waiting time before we start the ride. Amsterdam Centraal is the perfect station to do this because of number of trains that come and go. Lots to see! 9:29 Amsterdam Centraal Time for departure. As soon as the signal shows a better color than red we make contact with the train dispatcher. There’s a rail switch between us and the signal. Rail regulation tells us we must get conformation for the dispatcher before we may depart. 11:56 Dijksgracht Update It’s been a while since we run passed the Dijksgracht. And a lot has changed since then. Open your eyes and see what has happened in the meantime. I think you can slowly see what the plan is for the fly-over and dive-under. 14:18 Amsterdam Muiderpoort Today we are running a Sprinter service. We’ll make stops on all stations on our way. 16:43 Amsterdam Science Park On the left side you can see the Watergraafsmeer Yard. This station is also handy for train staff going to and coming from the yard and traveling by public transport. 18:44 Station Sign After departure from Science Park I’ll give some explanation about how the driver knows there’s a station coming up (for example when driving in thick fog). 19:22 Diemen The railway crossover has been taken away and a brand new tunnel was created for a saver environment in Diemen. In the old situation we had many times people crossing the tracks on red lights. Now that’s no option anymore. 23:27 Weesp At Weesp one of my Instagram and Youtube followers awaits me on the platform to wish me a happy and (and start) of the year. Appreciated! 30:05 Keverdijk Where the line coming from Almere just joined in. 32:24 Naarden-Bussum Here’s a station approach sign in place where we approach the station at a higher speed than others in the video. As you can see this is also the point where the light signal shows us we must slow down because we will encounter a red light at the end of the platform. In case of a green signal the station approach sign let the driver know he’s close to the station (about 1200-1400 meters from the stopping location). 35:57 Bussum Zuid Just after departure from this station you can see a big shunting yard on the left side. This yard is used for track maintenance. New steal tracks are made here and many other stuff used for the railways. Freight trains come here to take the long steel beams to their destinations. Halfway towards Hilversum there’s an ecoduct. 39:14 Hilversum Media Park On the right side you can see Media Park Hilversum. Many of The Netherlands TV programs are created at this location. 41:35 Hilversum Main station of Hilversum. That railway crossing in front of the station is closed for a greater part of the day due to all the train traffic running on this line. Today we have less trains running because of the Christmas / New Years Holidays. But on normal working days this is a busy line. Just after Hilversum you can see the line towards Utrecht bending to the right. On our way to Baarn we’ll cross the Province Border to Utrecht just after another ecoduct. 47:58 Baarn A wonderful station in a curved track. During the autumn days this is on of the station that’s very slippery as well due to all the forest around it. Today is a beautiful day with no slippery tracks at all. Just after Baarn the tracks split up again. On the right the line towards Soest, Den Dolder and Utrecht. 54:04 Amersfoort As we approach Amersfoort you can see there’s many room to park trains. On the right at the Bokkeduinen and on the left another big shunting yard in the station direction. Always fun here with a lot of old trains on the yard as well. On departure you can see the line towards Leusden splitting up to the right. This is only used by freight trains. 59:57 Amersfoort Schothorst Just before this station the line is splitting up towards Barneveld and Deventer. 1:03:34 Amersfoort Vathorst. Final stop for this ride. We arrive a bit early because of a ski injury. I need to give myself some extra time to get my jacket on. And there’s another train coming to be coupled in the other end of the train for more capacity on the way back. I hope you enjoyed the ride. Please let me hear in the comments what you think of it and don’t forget to tell your friends about my channel. :D Thank you all for your support! Cheers!
