Fans from around the world became fans of wrestling thanks to Hulk Hogan, his rise in popularity was nothing short of phenomenal. Before the rise of Hulkamania in the WWF though, Hogan had wrestled in Florida and Memphis, but it was in the AWA where fans first got behind Terry Bollea. Hulk Hogan was trained by Hiro Matsuda in Florida before making his debut as "The Super Destroyer" in the CWF. Soon afterwards, Hogan packed his bags and travelled to Memphis and Georgia, working as Terry Boulder and Sterling Golden before eventually finding his way to Vince McMahon Sr and the WWF. Hulk got a great push in the WWF but was released due to his participation in the Rocky III movie. Hulk then travelled to the AWA and became a star in the promotion. Hogan got incredible fan support while working under Verne Gagne, however things got a little rough when Verne wanted a piece of Hogan's merchandising. Along with this, Hulk Hogan was making a name for himself in Japan. Hogan won an early version of the IWGP championship and had became a fan favourite in NJPW, and Verne wanted a piece of the action too.
