Today’s run starts in Lupton, Arizona after shutting down near the state line for the night. We’re still westbound with a load of large hydro spun rolls, double stacked in the trailer, and the goal for this leg is to make it all the way to Tehachapi, California before the next 10-hour break. This part of the trip follows a strong western freight corridor. We’ll start out on I-40 in eastern Arizona and stay with it across the high desert, passing through country around Holbrook, Winslow, Flagstaff, Williams, Ash Fork, Kingman, and Needles before picking up I-15 for the push toward Southern California. From there, the route turns onto CA-58, heading west out across the desert and up toward Tehachapi, where the drive starts changing from long open stretches to more elevation and mountain terrain. It’s the kind of day that gives you a real look at the Southwest, with desert miles, open sky, and one of California’s best-known trucking approaches waiting at the end of the run. This should be a solid day of windshield time with a lot of scenery changes as we move from Arizona desert into California and work toward the grades around Tehachapi. Ride along with us and come along for the trip.
