Sometimes the games are amazingly good, like Stellar Blade and Marvel Rivals. Sometimes, and quite a bit from western devs, they are amazingly bad; like Dragon Age Veilguard, perhaps? And you know we talk over and over about games that underperform financially and satisfactory for customers, but a major discussion point should come up and often it doesn’t. Who are the people in the creative hot seat that are writing characters with the personalities of moldy bread and lukewarm milk? Who is creating these legacy sequels to long-loved franchises that never live up to the past iterations? Who are the decision makers and why do they do what they do?
