This video shows a bonsai technique to create taper in the upper trunk of your bonsai tree by sawing the dead wood off and carving a V-shape right into the bark of the living wood. This gives natural looking trunk taper and branch taper too. Demo with a Wild Olive "Oleaster" (Olea Sylvestris) bonsai. I have both tools, but to help you decide: the Dremel is lightweight and great for simple carving jobs of up to 30 minutes. The Bosch is more powerful, and the li-ion battery lasts over an hour, so it is my tool of choice. However, the Bosch is also bigger and heavier, and more expensive than the Dremel Lite.
