Catfish Paedophile Sentenced To 20 Years | “The Judge Didn’t Cover The Depravity Of The Offending”

Alexander McCartney, 26, has been sentenced to life with a minimum of 20 years in prison after admitting to 185 charges involving 70 children across the globe. At Belfast Crown Court, Mr. Justice O’Hara delivered the sentence for McCartney, who posed as a teenage girl on Snapchat to manipulate and blackmail young victims, resulting in widespread harm. One victim, 12-year-old Cimarron Thomas from West Virginia, died by suicide in 2018 after McCartney pressured her with disturbing demands. Her father later also died by suicide. McCartney pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Cimarron’s case and to numerous other offenses, including blackmail and distributing indecent images. His crimes affected children in the U.S., Australia, and New Zealand, making him one of the UK’s most prolific catfish offenders.
