For FC7Soccer® Development Academy™ Player Training. First please "LIKE" the video and if you want you can "SHARE" it too. Nicky asked if you would be so kind and "SUBSCRIBE" to her channel. Her videos don't come out that often so you would just be helping with the algorithms by increasing her number of subscribers. Thank you in advance. Eventually you'll need a highlight reel. This is what a high school "highlights reel" for college coaches looks like (in general) with a few additions. First we added music (most coaches like no music). After the 'Thank You' ending, we added more highlights. Some are from ODP practices and tryouts. Others from ECNL practices. Lastly a few extra game highlights. There are two "Game Winners". The first was the league final with less than a minute to go in a 1-1 tie, on the same play (basically) Nicky (as the 10) passes a ball into her forward (9 position) for a game winning assist opportunity with under a minute left and the ball almost gets through. It then was sent outside to the oppositions 3 position who passed it forward and Nicky's team intercepted it with a touch inside (near the midfield circle). Nicky on follow up, took the shot that won the game from almost mid-field. The second was a tournament win, where Julian made the shot that won it with very little time left. Both are a great lesson for our young players on resilience. As our Development Academy players watch they will witness Nicky doing a lot of what we teach. She was with us since she was 5 years old (and she had to play up in age with boys). She now helps coach the younger kids while she prepares for her college opportunities. Players should watch for the following: How she "scans-reads-responds" (her technique is almost flawless). How she takes shots with both left and right feet (she's a righty by nature). How she gestures (points to guide teammates) and gives direction on the pitch - creating goals. Her accuracy shooting the ball (on PKs and other shots - where they land in the net). Pay attention to the types of shots. She hits power shots, flips shots, even a reverse flip in Europe. How she finds space and her use of timing to make runs (overlaps - angle runs). How she "bodies" on the attacking side to create space to shoot or pass. How she maintains space and does NOT chase the ball (she plays chess on the pitch). How she makes the run from '18' to '18' (inside the '18') even though she did not get the ball. How she uses both left and right for pass-throughs (some are 60 yards+). How she brings the defense away from who she is passing to before she passes. How she curves the ball around the defender to her winger (outer corridor). How she skips the ball like a rock on water with side spin for her winger. How she uses back spin for her #9 position (CF: forward) so the GK can't get it. Watch what she does once she passes the ball (doesn't stand and watch-already responding). Her vision around the "18" (the box) swiftly scans then reads defenders to pass and score. How she can dribble fast w/one foot then swiftly pass w/the other to score. How she pivots away from defenders then quickly passes inside (the box) for goals. Her long and short passing accuracy, and her "crosses" accuracy (right on the player's foot). Her toughness on defense and attacking - unafraid and "bodies" at will on defense too. How quickly she moves on the ball and the attacking player -as a defender to create doubt. How she slide tackles and accurately passes the ball from the ground on a slide. How 'scans' and 'reads' without the ball to help her spot opportunities to take the ball away. How quickly she can score or assist on teams as a defender when she 'tackles'. These are just a few of Nicky's highlights to help each of you as players understand what your game can be like. Once your technique becomes refined enough that you can keep your head up, the game changes for you. You begin to master it. You spend most of your time scanning, reading, and responding with and without the ball. You begin to see how space is your friend. You learn the asymmetry self-similar patterns (think 'phi') that benefit you and your teammates (your style). You learn how timing is everything in soccer IQ. You learn it is not about 'control', it's about "coherence and discipline." Once you're free to really play the game, experiences playing the game promote your adaptability and your creativity. That is when it really gets fun. The game is fluid for both teams. Remember, opponents are necessary so always shake their hand after the game even if they won't shake yours. They are your mirror in the game. Opponents can show you your strengths and weaknesses throughout the game -pay attention (details matter). They also promote your creative adaptability. Lastly, win or lose - they make you a better player and a better person. Let there be light. Thank you. -FC7Soccer®DA™ Management Team
