This is a 14-minute video from the Feb. 26, 1976 National Hockey League game between the St. Louis Blues and the Bruins in Boston, won by the Bruins, 4-2. It is film, with crowd noise only, from the WCVB Collection, transferred by Northeast Historical Film. Thanks to NHF for the OK to post it with watermarks; for information on obtaining a clean copy visit www.oldfilm.org. The boys are back in town as former Bruins goalie Eddie Johnston, center Derek Sanderson, and defenseman Rick Smith are suited up for the Blues. Johnston had a decent game (03:33, 05:38), allowing three goals and making 26 saves. Sanderson had an assist, which we don't see, but several other scoring bids (05:49, 10:47, 12:12). Smith checked tightly and cleared the net-front (07:34). As usual, the goals were snatched for the Channel 5 sports report, but the Bruins took a 3-0 lead in the first period on tallies by Jean Ratelle, Don Marcotte, and Ken Hodge. St. Louis got one from Chuck Lefley late in the period, assisted by the Turk. After a scoreless second, Floyd Thomson beat Gilles Gilbert at 16;32 of the third, but Gregg Sheppard bagged an empty-netter for the Bruins. Box score in comments. Copyright WCVB.
