Bing Crosby was one of the most popular entertainers in the 20th Century. He sold over 350 million records and had more hits than the Beatles and Elvis combined. Known for his jazzy rhythms and romantic ballads, Bing's spontaneous "Ba-Ba-Boo" style helped shape American popular music. On Thursday nights, 50 million fans would tune in to listen to Bing Crosby on Kraft's Radio Music Hall. During World War II, Bing used his radio show to help raise $14.5 million in war bonds and was voted by American servicemen to be the one individual who did the most for supporting their morale. Bing was also one of the most successful stars ever to appear on the silver screen. For 15 years, Bing was among the top ten box office movie stars and held the number one spot from 1944-1949. He was nominated for an Academy Award for best actor three times and won for "Going My Way" in 1944. His movies include musical comedies, the zany "Road" pictures with Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour, and a few dramatic roles. Join Rich Little as he explores the life and times of one of the greatest entertainers who ever lived...Bing Crosby.
