Bishal Lakha, a Ph.D. student at Boise State University, is a Machine Learning Engineer with research experience in Deep Learning, Graph Neural Networks, and Computer Vision, currently working on applications in computer security. Rhitabrat Pokharel, a Ph.D. student at Portland State University, calls himself "passionate about making machines understand spoken languages" and investigates linguistic translation and multilingual idiomatic contexts. Both are winners of the SoBigData Diversity & Inclusion Award, which offers support to promote more diverse participation in important data science conferences in Europe, as the differences add value, including in data science.
