Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. Special Thanks to Mesut Keskin :) Ma be xêr di! Namê mı Andyo. Çıturia? Hello! My name is Andy. How are you? Let's talk about the Zazaki language. Zazaki Language Zazaki is a Northwestern Iranian language belonging to the Indo-European family, primarily spoken in eastern Anatolia between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. Closely related to Kurdish, Persian, and Balochi, Zazaki is linguistically closer to the Caspian dialects of northern Iran, such as Sangsari, Mazandarani, and Taleshi. The language likely originated from the historical region of Deylamān near the Caspian Sea. While the exact number of Zazaki speakers is uncertain, estimates range between 3 and 6 million, with significant speakers in Turkish provinces such as Dersim, Bingöl, and Elazığ, as well as a diaspora in Europe and beyond. Despite its rich linguistic heritage, Zazaki faces challenges of assimilation and language shift, particularly among diasporic communities. Zaza People and Culture The Zaza people, who speak the Zazaki language, inhabit the mountainous regions of eastern Anatolia. The Zazas are divided into Sunni Muslim and Alawite communities, with Alawites mainly in the north and Sunnis in the south. Traditionally engaged in agriculture and pastoralism, Zaza culture has been shaped by its rugged environment and historical resilience. Modern Zaza communities face challenges including economic hardship, forced migration, and cultural assimilation, with significant diasporic populations in Turkey's urban centers and abroad. Despite adversity, the Zazas maintain a strong sense of identity rooted in their language, traditions, and communal bonds. This video is created for educational, language awareness, and language preservation purposes.
