The Dumbo Film Festival (DFF) was envisioned in fall 2018 with the aim of promoting and supporting established and emerging movie directors, as well as becoming one of the key independent film festivals on the international scene Throughout the year until the live screening, the festival holds preselection competitions to select a number of entries for each category. The DFF jury Committees are made up of BAFTA and Academy Award® winning and Academy Award® nominee filmmakers , directors and producers. Applicants to the DFF include films that have either been selected or awarded by the American Academy Awards (Oscar®), the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), Goya Awards, Cannes, Berlinaler, and so on. A significant number of entries to the DFF have been distributed on major TVs and international platforms such as: HBO, Netflix, Amazon, PBS, BBC. The 2024 GRAND BRIDGE AWARD for Winner of Best Film of the Year was a unique piece carved out of Sicilian wood which changes every year. .
