Benson Today, we tend to consider Bonaventure's Journey of the Mind into God as his "classic" text--but medieval readers, who regarded him as a spiritual master, preferred his "Triple Way". In addition, the text itself was presented differently then: it would be written in shorthand, with mistakes in the Latin, without titles or chapter divisions, and even with different content depending on the version one was reading. Examining the text as a medieval reader might have found it can shed light on Bonaventure's historical circumstances and how he wrote, as well as the spiritual significance of the text itself.
