This is a brief overview on trebles in Irish fiddle. This will probably be the most useful for fiddlers and violinists already familiar with the instrument and just starting to learn the Irish style. Trebles are a common ornament, and when written out, look like two sixteenth notes and an eighth note. They help the fiddle mimic the sound of the pipes. This video goes through three places where trebles can fit in a tune. First, to dress up a boring quarter note, especially if it's on an open string. Second, to hide in between two eighth notes.
