My dad, the late Phil May (1938-2018), was a New York advertising executive. He started his career as a copywriter in Los Angeles and then New York with J. Walter Thompson in the 1960s - 1970s and concluded as a senior vice president / creative director international with Dancer Fitzgerald Sample ("DFS" in the Chrysler Building) in the mid-1980s.
