HOTCHKISS M1922 MG REVIEW, WITH FINNTROLL 1984 (BATTLEFIELD V) The M1922 was invented by American Benjamin B Hotchkiss who had moved to France to establish his own company called Hotchkiss et Companie. A first factory was built near Rodez in 1867 and a second one in Saint-Dénis near Paris in 1875. Guns that were produced at Rodez were already used in the Franco-Prussian War where Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated during this phase of the German Unification. The war had started in July 1870 and ended late January 1871, turning Alsace-Lorraine into German property. France was forced to sign the Treaty of Frankfurt and Napoleon died 2 years later while living in England in exile. The M1922's ancestor was the M1914, which used a feed strip just like the Benet-Mercié in BF1, a flat vertical strip of ammunition which came in 15 rounds, 24 rounds and 30 rounds. This feed strip had also been invented by Benjamin B Hotchkiss in 1896 already. The M1922 was gas-operated and had a 450 rpm fire rate, with 600mm of the total 1216mm length going to the barrel! Apart from the feed strip, also a 20-round overhead box magazine could be installed on the M1922. Also Britain and USA used the Hotchkiss guns and the feed strip was even copied by the Japanese for their Type 3 machine guns and Type 92 machine guns. Apart from WWII and the First Indochina War, the M1922 was also used in the Spanish Civil War, the Rif War in North Morocco and the Constitutionalist Revolution (Brazilian Civil War). This war took place in the second half of 1932 between July and October. The Rif War in North Morocco was fought in the Rif region against Abd el-Krim who was forced to surrender and to live in exile afterwards. The war lasted from 1920 until 1927 and ended with Spanish-French victory against the Republic of the Rif. Created by Jeff Wijns
