Table Topics are spontaneous speeches to help members think on their feet and speak on a given subject. For this TableTopics, 5 different paintings were chosen, some more famous than others. The speaker had to imagine he/she was the artist of the painting. The Paintings were: 1. “The Persistence Of Memory” by Salvador Dali, painted in 193. The meaning of this painting is open to interpretation but some art historians believe the painting suggest Einstein's theory of relativity: time is relative and is not fixed.Others believe it derives from Sigmund Freud's work on psychoanalysis and suggest the irrelevance of time during sleep. 2. “Guernica” by Pablo Picasso completed in 1937. Brings the world’s attention to the bombing of the Basque town of Guernica by Hitler's air force, who was supporting the Nationalist forces of General Franco during the Spanish Civil War. It shows the tragedies of war and the suffering it inflicts upon individuals, particularly innocent civilians. 3."The Nucleus of Creation" or "Birth of the Hero", by Frida Kahlo, painted in 1945. It is based on her interpretation of Sigmund Freud book "Moses the Man and Monotheistic Religion”. 4. “The Scream” by Edvard Munch, painted around 1893. From a series of expressionist paintings showing an agonized figure against a blood red sky. The landscape in the background is Oslofjord, viewed from the hill of Ekeberg, in Oslo. 5. Palestinian artist. It depicts a nude Muslim couple, going through the checkpoints imposed by Israel, to which Palestinians in both West Bank and Gaza have to go through everyday. --- Love, Ana Giselle Kafie Follow me on Instagram: Pachamanita
