About Course: The human immune system relies on a large number of nutritionally dependent pathways. Nearly 75% of the immune system lies within 2-3 cm of the gastrointestinal tract. Issues such as dysbiosis and increased intestinal permeability (i.e. loss of gap junction integrity) can further compromise the immune system’s ability to respond to and/or prevent infection. Fostering a healthy microbiome is foundational for immune support. Patients with underlying health issues and the general population will both have a markedly reduced risk for infection and related complications with the proper distribution of macronutrients, reduced intakes of added sugar, and certain feeding patterns. In addition the modality of feeding administration, intermittent bolus feeding vs continuous feeding, may also have a link to immune support. Join John Bagnulo MPH, PhD & Laura Dority, MS, RD, LD in a discussion centered on macronutrient distribution and feeding modalities that can help improve immune function. What Will You Learn? • Identify the most important immune system pathways that have a nutritional connection • Explain how macronutrient distribution and patterns of eating can impact immune health • Understand the physiological benefits and importance of intermittent feeding in terms of immune health • Gain practical tips on implementing intermittent feeding and reducing added sugar intake into clinical practice APPROVED FOR 1.0 CPE CREDITS BY THE CDR OF THE ACADEMY OF NUTRITION AND DIETETICS RDs may claim CE credit for this webinar until 1/24/2027. https://www.functionalformularies.com...
