After a few weeks off, I’m back—and kicking off the new year with one of the coldest rides I’ve ever attempted. With temperatures starting at -1°F and barely climbing to 10°F, I fired up the Norden 901 Expedition and hit the road for a mid-winter photo mission for OBR ADV Gear and Haven Tent. But adventure doesn’t always go as planned… What started as a brisk but beautiful ride quickly turned into a battle with the cold. After warming up with some coffee and over an hour in the saddle, my bike began struggling to start—raising real fears of getting stranded miles from home. And if that wasn’t enough, I managed to drop the bike on the ice, testing both my nerves and my gear.
